Ride in Paradise

An Artistic Journey

When a chance encounter becomes a journey — and a place becomes part of the creative process.

Enter the journey

The Journey

Ride in Paradise: An Artistic Journey is a 35-minute poetic documentary set on the remote Indonesian island of Pulau Una Una.

What begins as a chance encounter between filmmaker Yann Sebastian Harz and environmental artist Mister Ride at Jakarta Airport turns into a two-week journey through art, nature and human connection.

Far from the structures of everyday life, Mister Ride begins creating Goddess of the Sea. As the work evolves, the island itself enters the process — through the ocean, vegetation, light, materials, conversations and the rhythms of life surrounding its creation.

Yann Harz follows this transformation through cinematography, observation and an original musical score, creating a film that is less interested in explaining art than in experiencing the moment in which it emerges.

The Artist

Mister Ride

An environmental artist deeply immersed in the natural world, Mister Ride plays with the concept of “environment,” creating a dialogue between natural and manufactured elements.

Emerging from the urban land art scene, he has developed biocultural work in which nature — or whatever stems from or symbolizes it — forms the essence of his work.

Reflections on nature and society lie at the heart of his projects, with particular attention to the close bond between humanity, nature and the environment.

The Work

Goddess of the Sea

On Pulau Una Una, that relationship changes. Nature is no longer brought into an urban environment. The artist himself enters an environment dominated by nature.

The film observes the creation of Goddess of the Sea without separating artwork, artist and environment.

Two Artworks — One Journey

While one artwork emerges, another slowly takes shape around it.

Yann Sebastian Harz records the journey through image, sound and music. Observation becomes cinematography. Moments become rhythm. The landscape becomes part of the visual language.

The result is not simply a documentary about an artist. It is a film about creation itself — and about what can happen when artist, filmmaker and environment are allowed to influence one another.
